RP log with Roy

Who: [livejournal.com profile] trueltning_fury and [livejournal.com profile] bad_twin
When: the evening of the Sun Rune's new twist
Where: Geddoe's room
What: MOAR PLOT

Roy: *hands in pockets, Roy knocks on Geddoe's door with the tip of his boot; he doesn't seem like he's up for fun today after Arshtat's stunt*

Geddoe: *goes to open it swifty, since he's expecting a visitor* Roy. Good. Come on in - Sigurd's out, don't worry.

Roy: *raises his eyebrow, wondering if Sigurd doesn't like him or something* ...Ha! Don't mind if I do. *he waltzes his way in past Geddoe and makes himself comfortable on a chair, as if it's his own home, before releasing an exhasperating sigh*

Geddoe: I've been tipped off that I need to talk to you. About statues. *never one for small-talk when business was involved*

Roy: Statues... *perks up, although he still looks skeptical* Ya actually believe that mumbo jumbo?

Geddoe: I don't know, because I have no idea what all this business about statues is on about. But if you know something, I'd like to hear it. *glances toward a note folded up on the desk under the windows* All it said was to talk to Roy about Sindar statues.

Roy: Kyle, I'm guessin'? Tch! *crosses his arms* He reckons we can... "seal" the rune? In some Sindar statue, no less. But there's a twist! Ya gotta purify or baptize it or whatever! I dunno, man, it all sounds like a wild goose chase to me... pah!

Geddoe: Hm. *thinking, thinking* I don't know much about the Sun Rune itself. Is that how it was kept in Falena? But the Sindar never used statues. They sealed Runes in other structures - temples, usually. Occasionally orbs.

Roy: That so? Well this one was in a statue, I know THAT much. But now that I think 'bout it, the rune was still kinda active even in the statue... I dunno how. *taps his chin, also thinking* Does it even matter though? It ain't like we're gonna find a Sindar dungeon outta the blue anyway! It can't be done!

Geddoe: *eyebrow* There's one near the Great Hollow. And another temple in the mountains north of Chisha.

Roy: ...Shut up, no way! *suddenly stands up from the chair he was sitting on* You serious? ...But that means...

Geddoe: I don't think you're going to find statues there, though. That is, if the ruins haven't sealed themselves up now that True Water's seal is broken.

Roy: ...T-tch, these seals are pissin' me off! Can't we force our way through? We can at least look, yeah?!

Geddoe: *scratching the back of his head* What do you suppose would be more important, finding a Sindar ruin or finding a statue? There are other places to find the latter.

Roy: *points at Geddoe, wide-eyed* ...Yes! You're thinkin' outside the box! If it's a Sindar statue Kyle wants, we can just take one from some kinda museum, right? That's what ya meant, right?

Geddoe: ..... *blink* ...no. I was thinking about the North Cavern, in Zexen. Hugo used to find all kinds of statues there, usually booty from bandits who tried to hide it there and abandoned it to the creatures that live in the cavern.

Roy: ...oh. *hands on hips* Yeah, well, I was gonna suggest that next, but... *mumbles the rest of his lie to himself* --okay, so. Suppose there is some statue there... ya gonna go for it? Whaddya think of all this? I mean, we got two suns damnit... *looks at the bright window, really wanting to do something about this*

Geddoe: I know. I'm worried about all of this. If Kyle's secretly hatching a plan to get the Sun Rune off the Queen and seal it into a statue...well, I have to say, that's a pretty clever idea. But I don't know how he's going to do it without a rune sage.

Roy: He's gotta be scrambling... *has no clue what the next step is either* Well, that's all the intel I got. *shrugs* Guess I should be takin' a team down to that cave with me, hey?

Geddoe: *scowl of deep thought* Actually...yes. You should. Take enough to fight with, there are some nasty things down there. If North Cavern has nothing, I'll show you where the ancient highway to the Sindar ruins lies.

Roy: *mimics his scowl* It's just one errand after another... a'ight, I'll take enough with me. And one burly fella for good measure. Someone's gotta carry that thing, ya know! *sly grin* We done here?

Geddoe: Unless you have any other information for me. *all serious* Do you know how the Queen died, in her own time?

Roy: ...*smile quickly fades again* What's that got to do with this? She died like a person dies.

Geddoe: I'm just trying to plan for every possibility. That includes the one where she goes completely out of control and there comes to be only one way to stop her. *he does look regretful about this, at least* But how does one get past a group of Queen's Knights to do it?

Roy: Oh, that's easy. *averts his eyes, he doesn't like that outcome either, especially after getting to know Arshtat lately* Ya gotta be one... or earn their trust obviously. That's the easy part anyway... but livin' with it? She's innocent, y'know..! *clenches his fists*

Geddoe: I know, Roy. You don't think I don't have a similar whisper in my own soul? *clenching his right hand into a fist* But what do you mean - be one? Are you saying...one of the Knights killed her?

Roy: *not sure if it's his place to say that much* ...Y'know, in my time during the war, I've seen Queen's Knights havin' to decide whether they're loyal to the people or their Queen. I dunno if that particular one was following secret orders or what... but he definitely had his duties. That's all they're good for anyway! Duties! Take that away and they're like mindless drones! *suddenly fired up when thinking about Lyon's obsession with her job* Tch!

Geddoe: Roy, if you know anything. I could use some help. *narrowing his eye* And that's not what they're always about. Kyle is in a pretty bad place right now. I'm concerned about him.

Roy: I know that! *stomps* And he might "decide" soon if we don't do something! Look, I told ya all I know, but I don't like where this is goin'!! Why don't ya look for a strong mage or something? A mercenary should have all kinds of connections -- we can still do this the proper way! Kyle's way!!

Geddoe: *stern frowning at being stomped and yelled at* I'm doing what I can, Roy. But a captain plans for every possibility. Including the one where we can't find a mage who can seal runes and... *stops, right about there* Hm.

Roy: ...*frowns back, since he gets the message anyway, though he's really trying not to see that as an option* Well if it comes to that, all I can say is good freakin' luck. Now if you'll excuse me, there's a statue with my name on it. "Roy. Ex. Machina"! Hmph!! *makes his way to the door rather pompously, even though he's completely serious about finding it*

Geddoe: Roy. *more patiently* ...be careful. Take someone with you who can hunt treasure, you'll have better luck. And don't waste time - I don't know how long before that new sun turns us into Lordlake. *yes, Rahal has told him about that one*

Roy: *stops and shoots Geddoe an angry glare, though his eyes are more telling him to be careful, too. He gives him a knowing nod, hoping the next time they meet will be under safer weather circumstances, and finally slams the door on his way out*
