When: yesterday
Where: the tavern?
What: for two guys just bs-ing, they got really serious
Kyle: *looking a little tired and walking slowly around the castle*
Geddoe: *comes out of the library and heads down the stairs, spotting a familiar golden-headed figure along the way* Hey. Kyle.
Kyle: Oh hey, Geddoe! *waves*
Geddoe: What are you up to? *goes to meet him*
Kyle: Trying to get into better shape without hurting myself. 'Shard. *there's a definite wheeze to his breathing when he's not speaking*
Geddoe: You sound like you've been running laps around the castle or something. *not that he's one to talk about pushing himself too far too fast* Or like you need to call it enough for today.
Kyle: Yeah, you're probably right. Don't want people to worry about me.
Geddoe: Yeah, you've done enough of that. Take a break, go easy on yourself.
Kyle: *sits himself down and sighs; as he does so, his clothing pulls and reveals a bit of gauze wrapped around his right forearm* So hey, what's up with you?
Geddoe: *notices, raises an eyebrow but leaves it for now* Not much. Brushing up on my history just in case. I've got to while away my days somehow.
Kyle: You get anybody to join your team yet?
Geddoe: A couple of inquiries. Nothing definite yet. *rubs his chin a bit* I might end up with a team full of Islanders, if anything pans out.
Kyle: Well, they can probably kick ass as much as the next guy.
Geddoe: Oh, I don't doubt it. Well, I'll see, when they spar with me. *raises that eyebrow again* Been up to anything like that yourself?
Kyle: Here and there. Kinda why I'm tired too. Watari doesn't screw around when he fights.
Geddoe: *brow twitch* Watari? I see. He's the one that gave you that? *nods toward Kyle's arm where the bandage is sticking out*
Kyle: I got him a little bit but yeah, he got me on the arm. Right where the arm guards don't cover. Nothin' too bad. I just get bruised when he fights. But I learn a whole lot each time I do it.
Geddoe: I should hope so. Watari is a tough fighter, and he knows a lot of unorthodox methods. I've sparred with him myself. *quiets a little* Sparring with as many different people as you can...that's a good way to get back into shape. That's what I did.
Kyle: Well I'll keep that in the back of my mind when I'm getting my ass beaten. *chuckling*
Kyle: You're not angry at me, are you?
Geddoe: What? No...why would I be? *slight smirk* Unless you're doing something that I ought to get mad at you for, and haven't told me.
Kyle: Well, 'cause I wasn't sparring with you. And...ah....*kinda hesitates at the second statement*
Geddoe: I'm not some jealous girlfriend, Kyle. You can spar with whoever you want. *snort* But...if I ever get to where I'm ignoring my friends when they need me, would you smack me upside the head? I don't know how else I'll notice. *senses trouble* And what?
Kyle: *chokes at the jealous girlfriend comment* Believe me, I don't think of you that way. It's just...you had a lot on your plate some weeks ago so I didn't want to ask you this.
Geddoe: *slow headshake* It's all right. You're a good friend to me, I wouldn't turn you away no matter how busy I was. *sigh* Queen's been giving me the same thing. The 'I don't want to interrupt your honeymoon' thing. It's all right, Sigurd and I aren't attached at the hip or anything.
Kyle: *grin* You sure about that?
Geddoe: Pretty sure. *peer* ....why?
Kyle: Just yankin' yer chain, old man. *laugh*
Geddoe: *sighs again* You just love doing that. You and Wyatt, I swear.
Kyle: Awww, but Geddoe, it's so fun.~
Kyle: *serious now* But yeah, what I'm doing now, it's really dangerous. I'm not sure you're agile enough for it.
Geddoe: Agile...? Just what are you up to, anyway?
Kyle: ....swords
Geddoe: *not sure what that means, but the tone of voice makes him take it seriously* Testing something out?
Kyle: Trying to tame...my crazy.
Geddoe: Ah. Is it really that bad?
Kyle: I'm trying to wrap my head around it for now. I think I'm doing a better job than I was before.
Geddoe: Well. It's true that a fighter needs to be aware of his weaknesses, and clear of mind before he can enter a battle. I just hope you don't end up over-thinking it and second-guessing yourself all the time.
Kyle: I'm trying to not...well...I guess I'm trying to embrace it without it taking over so much. The thing is, I get ridiculously fast under the influence.
Geddoe: Speed isn't always an asset in battle. Sometimes, yes...but not every time. *slight shrug* I guess I have no real advice for you. Do whatever you think is necessary, to live with yourself and come through any battle alive and well.
Kyle: I'll keep that in mind. Once I'm pretty sure I have a decent handle on it, I'll try you with swords. I'm sure you DID want to try that at some time. For a rematch. *grin*
Geddoe: Hm...yeah, you got that right. Not that you weren't damn good with that glaive, but swordwork is my thing.
Kyle: It's a promise then. *offers hand for a fistbump*
Geddoe: *a bit perplexed, but raises a fist mimicking Kyle*
Kyle: *obviously he has to teach the old man; he taps his fist up top, down low, and straight on*
Geddoe: *eye twitch* ...uh...
Kyle: *simply has to laugh at Geddoe's confusion* It's like an updated handshake!
Geddoe: ...riiiight. *amused snort*
Kyle: So, did you meet her Majesty yet?
Geddoe: *nod* I did. I ran into her yesterday. Interesting woman.
Kyle: Isn't she great?
Geddoe: I don't think I've ever actually met a queen before. At least, not this close up. I'm not entirely sure what to do.
Kyle: Just be respectful. She's all right but she doesn't screw around. You know how I'm never serious usually? That gets thrown out the window with her.
Geddoe: I see. Well, I know how to be respectful, but I also don't necessarily feel like my business ought to be her business. She isn't my queen, after all.
Kyle: True, true. She's new and all and probably doesn't get how it all works.
Geddoe: *gets real serious* ...what do you know of her Rune, now, in this state?
Kyle: Not a clue. But...it might be okay. If it weren't, something bad would have happened already.
Geddoe: *staring at the table* I can sense...something different about her. Like sensing another True Rune, but not, so...maybe you're right, it's dormant or something. *raises his head* How bad are we talking? What would it take to get the Sun Rune to activate?
Kyle: I don't know. I don't know how the Sun Rune works. But her Majesty is in total control. I can tell. And Ferid's right at her side. He won't let anything bad happen. *nods*
Kyle: Might want to not flash True Lightning around if you can help it.
Geddoe: I haven't been. There are too many people around who shouldn't know that I have it, so I've been keeping that to myself lately. And really...even another True Rune bearer doesn't need to know.
Kyle: Good call. Although everyone's probably okay. She is DEFINITELY attached at the hip to Ferid.
Geddoe: *slight chuckle* I see. I did see them walking together, they make an attractive couple. No wonder Falena was almost lost without them.
Kyle: They're like...I guess it's hard to explain if it's not your country. *softer* They were like my compass.
Geddoe: You don't have to try to explain. I have no country. Nothing like that. But I can see that it means something to you, and that's all I need.
Kyle: *smile* Thanks, man.
Geddoe: *modest shrug*
Kyle: If I get the clearance, I wouldn't mind showing you my country. Too bad it's such a completely haul that way.
Geddoe: Well...Sigurd wants to sail to the Islands, sometime. Maybe we could do like your last trip, and hit both nations.
Kyle: Or cheat and use Viki's mirror.
Geddoe: *eyebrow again* ...and end up 200 years in the past?
Kyle: OOOOOhhhhh....good point
Geddoe: I trust it within a certain range - I used it to get back from Caleria. But the Islands and Falena are a lot farther away.
Kyle: Yeahhhhhhhhh you're probably right. Better just sail like normal people.
Geddoe: Even though I'm sure you'd be teasing the two of us nonstop for the duration of the sea voyage.
Kyle: *cheeky grin* But of course.~
Geddoe: Great. Just what I needed. *eyeroll*
Kyle: I won't tease ya too bad. He's good people for you.
Geddoe: Yeah...he is. *thoughts wander*
Kyle: ....well now, if you'd rather be alone with your thoughts...
Geddoe: ...oh, no. No. It's nothing, nevermind. Falena does sound interesting, and there's no time like the present year. It would be nice to get off this continent for once in my long life.
Kyle: *surprised* You've never left it?
Geddoe: I've been all across it, back and forth, from here to the coast of Scarlet Moon where I could look out and see Kanakan, but...no, I've never actually been beyond the coast.
Kyle: I guess it makes sense. I mean, it's not like you knew anybody from other places like that.
Geddoe: No. And I'd never heard enough about any other country to drive my curiosity to see it. But I've got all the time in the world to explore, so.
Kyle: Be immortal, see the world!
Geddoe: *can't help but chuckle a little, dryly*
Kyle: I've already seen more than I ever thought I'd see and I ain't even 30 yet!
Geddoe: That's not such a bad thing. Makes you...well rounded, and such.
Kyle: And not an ignorant hick on the backstreets of Lelcar.
Geddoe: Exactly. Consider that some people never leave their small towns, never know of the world.
Kyle: I should still probably take a tour of around the area before it *shudder* snows again.
Geddoe: ...come to think of it, didn't I promise you a tour when you first got here?
Kyle: Yeah! You did, actually.
Geddoe: Hm. I wonder if I could take the time to pay up on that promise. Though, I can't ask you to up and leave your queen when she just got here. But...maybe sometime soon. Before the snow.
Kyle: Maybe she'd want the knights to scout around anyway. I'll have to ask on it.
Geddoe: I'll have to go to Caleria to turn in my resignation soon anyway. If things are quiet around here, it might be a good time to make it an extra-long trip. *cough* Though that would mean bringing Sigurd, as well...
Kyle: Oh, for your resignation thing?
Geddoe: Yeah. That's something I can't send by messenger, I have to do it in person.
Kyle: You think they'll do anything to you?
Geddoe: Right away? No. *looks away, so the eyepatch side is toward Kyle* But they'll do something eventually.
Kyle: Like...like what?
Geddoe: Come after me. Once word reaches the upper levels of Harmonian command, they'll have to act. They can't let a True Rune just wander off on its own.
Kyle: Well...shit! That ain't good!
Geddoe: Probably not. *turns his head back* But it's the sort of thing I anticipated would happen eventually anyway, even if I was still working for Harmonia. This just means they'll have to work harder to track me.
Kyle: Hey, you know I'll help you keep 'em away!
Geddoe: I know. But I don't want to drag too many people into it. If Harmonia chooses to really send out the attack dogs, and they come here...I don't want others to get hurt. No matter how determined they are to protect me.
Kyle: Well, screw it. You ain't shakin' me.
Geddoe: I kind of figured. I can think of a few who'll be at your side, too, and no matter how many times I say I don't want them hurt, they won't leave me. *softer* Thanks.
Kyle: For all you've done for me, I'm always at your back, swordbrother.
Geddoe: I hope I won't have to hold you to that. *deep breath* Well, I still have until November first before they even find out. Let's enjoy the peace and quiet in the meantime.
Kyle: Good idea. Relaxing and getting stronger sounds like a plan.
Geddoe: Yeah. Sounds good to me, too.
